Value Streams

Where the capability map shows what the enterprise does, a value stream shows how value flows to a stakeholder, end to end, in stages. Each stage delivers a value item and is enabled by capabilities — that cross-map is the heart of the technique. Pick a stream, then open a stage to see its value, its criteria, and the capabilities behind it.

WHY VALUE STREAMS MATTER

A value stream is stakeholder-centric and cross-functional — it cuts across the org chart to show how value actually reaches the customer, employee or partner. Cross-mapping each stage to capabilities turns a strategy conversation into a concrete one: a weak stage points straight at the capabilities to strengthen. This pairing — value streams over a capability map — is the core of the BIZBOK method and what an operating model is then designed to run.
